The finish found on historic furniture is as important as the furniture piece itself. Stripping and re-finishing removes the original finish coating and damages the patina as well. Once removed, it can never be recovered. Patterns of wear indicating the history of use are also lost during re-finishing.
At Cotswolds Restoration Services we pride ourselves on our finishing techniques. It matters not how good the workmanship that has gone into making or restoring furniture if it is then let down by the finish. Each piece is considered on its own merits and the appropriate polishing or cleaning method then applied whether that be wax, french, oil or sprayed lacquer.
